The knowledge of local fund managers & broking houses is very disappointing. The word "sheep" comes to mind. The Australian market will never be a genuine market till there are some truly independent thinkers & doers acting in the Australian market. Does it really matter that much what happens in the US market?
More & more the thinking in share market investing is becoming short term. No one is able to see the bigger picture in Australia, so is it little wonder overseas companies plunder our wealth from under our feet.
As previously mentioned the UMC JORC gives a valuation for high grade iron ore with low impurities of under $3 per ton in the ground.
Why would any major iron ore producer explore for iron ore when they have the opportunity to buy this company for say $4 per share & obtain iron ore for under $6 per ton in territory that has huge exploration potential.
Whilst I hope & don't believe this company will be sold for under $4 per share, isn't it time the message not only gets out to brokers/fund managers but also governments & our children understand what wealth we really have in this country.
Personally hate to see any raw materials exported, whether wool or minerals when we should be value adding to these resources.
What is the use of starting up future funds when they never invest in real projects.
Just as an aside who was the Australian Treasurer who sold Australia's gold reserves as few years ago. Unfortunately, both major parties have little understanding of making this country wealthier over the long term, but are only interested in short term election victories.
Not convinced we will ever be the smart country or smart investors until the ordinary Australian understands where our true wealth lies & what should be done with it.
Lucky the Japanese worked out how to live in Japan with no resources, not sure how the average Aussie would have run Japan, perhaps as another third world country.
This week we will all start praising our Olympic athletes & how well they performed, lucky there are no gold medals for business, because apart from "Twiggy" the Aussie stage is empty. Remember "Twiggy" fell down once but was brave enough to get up & continue his battle & I hope he wins this time for all his followers.
    Regards
    Buffett
PS Waiting overseas buyers in UMC who understand what the real value of UMC is,pity.
