Charting wise if you want to do it you need to learn about these, moving averages, MACD crossovers, Bollinger bands, stochastics, Fibonacci retracements etc, candle sticks and so on, support, resistance, patterns, and so on.

I find charts interesting but mostly for major indices such as forex and metals. Word of warning, I can assure you if one was to focus on charts alone in the spec end of the ASX, one will soon be sitting on the road with ones hand out. I find the fundamentals much more important. By that I mean, details about the projects, management, cash in the bank, market caps, PE, etc etc. So it's a good idea to read the quarterly reports and research each project.
