I think Libra was being interpreted as competition with some validity. If they were able to make it work and automatically roll it out to their billions of customers in a seamless way then that would definitely be extreme competition; however with the loss of Visa, Mastercard, and PayPal they've lost those members with real regulatory experience and that's the bigger hurdle for them to jump really so it's now looking far less likely than it did when it came out May (formally announced June).
