Oprah's Cringe-worthy speech is a scary reality we're now facing, page-72

Stirring speech by Oprah. Hit all the right notes and went down really well infront of a very soft crowd.

She praised the Hollywood Press Association, saying "To tyrants and victims and secrets and lies, I value the press more than ever before" and praised the #metoo crowd by adding "Speaking the truth is the most powerful tool that we have."

Another line struck me. "For too long women have not been heard when they speak the truth to power, but their (powerful men) time is up."

Yes, the truth should come out. I agree wholeheartedly, but I don't think the Hollywood establishment should be the ones to pontificate about morals and values. Didn't they harbour several alleged sexual abusers for decades because of their generous patronage of the Democratic Party? I believe that many women will see through this pandering and make decisions based on their economic/political interests. Just like they did in the last election by voting for Trump.
