I've just looked in detail at Ocean Power Technologies (OPT) and their projects. It's great that there's a wave power technology which is so far advanced but must be a bit worrying for our little minnow!! OPT have already commercialised their technology and are much better funded than CWE. They also provide excellent returns for their investors.

Their technology seems to be very similar to CETO, just much further advanced.

OPT seem to be mainly active in the USA, UK and Australia - the latter two are obviously also key markets for CWE.

It looks to me like this company has the potential to stamp us into the ground, especially once they complete the Portland project (for which they were preferred over CWE).

OPT are talking about 19MW projects while CWE are still talking about 1-5MW projects over the same timeframe.

I wonder if OPT is the reason why CWE's Ireland/UK projects have not gone ahead?

Does anyone know more about OPT and its technology? Are there any niche markets where we might be able to outcompete them? Do we have any chance at all against these guys?
