Greenfieldsexploration campaigns continued to focus on identifying new mineralised trendsand drill testing high priority geological target areas. Much of the westerntrend is concealed by transported sediment cover, is significantlyunderexplored, and is in a geologically similar setting to other large goldsystems in the Eastern Goldfields.
During theperiod drill testing the western trend included 13,129 AC drill metres atMatt’s Bore, 5,634 AC drill metres and 6,276 RC drill metres drilled atBetelgeuse. A single diamond hole was completed to 523 metres to confirm thelithology, determine the dip of the stratigraphy and orientation of potentiallygold bearing structures at Betelgeuse. The diamond hole returned low level goldassays associated with narrow quartz veins and confirmed the presence of a goldmineralised system.
