option trading pre cursor to news?

Often unusual volume in option trading can be a pre emptive strike before news.
Over the past 2 days we have around 1.5m traded. More than in the last 6 months total.
Not always the case but perhaps something in the wind?
I guess you can also look at it the other way and say that there was 1.5m sellers but apart from a cross trade or two it looks as though it was buyers wanting in imo.
