"Bass Metals Limited (BSM) (previously Resource Finance & Investments Limited (RFI)) has advanced gold and copper exploration projects within a very large strategic ground holding in the richly and diversely mineralised Mt Read Volcanic belt of north-western Tasmania. In March 2005, Intec transferred all of its exploration tenements in the vicinity of the Hellyer Mine (now depleted and closed) to BSM in return for a 44% shareholding in BSM (see ASX announcement of 29 March 2005). This shareholding has since been diluted to approximately 23%."

Bass Metals (BSM) was floated on the ASX in October 2005 under its former name Resource Finance and Investments Ltd. Intec is the largest shareholder in BSM.

During its brief life, Bass Metals has energetically proven up a number of polymetallic orebodies in the 'Fossey' zone and Hellyer remnants immediately adjacent to the Intec Hellyer Mill, at Que Rive near Hellyer, and it has prospective tenements elsewhere in the northern part of the Mt Read Volcanics zone. BSM has formed alliances with GeoInformatics (in relation to geophysical modelling), Zinifex (in relation to deep-drilling for Hellyer-style orebodies) and Mancala (in relation to mining at Que River).

Intec is hopeful of being able to treat BSM’s future ore production at the Intec Hellyer Mill on mutually beneficial terms.
