This is basically a different way of calculating the tax payable, but it does not really effect the buttom line that much last time i looked at this. Some more marginal miners dont want or like any changes to the tax system of course. The Filipino govt clearly want miners to operate, but some lower grade plays will drop off. Miners have issues paying more tax than reasonable to govts and Rudd proved that here. It is always best to be in well run, high grade, near to infrastructure miners with top grade management if you like money. RTG have all of this and plenty of cash to get things done.

I think this is just another way of simplying the tax system. It is a bit like what happened here with the GST.
