I dont think you have to worry about a SPP anytime soon with SSN.
As for the best time to convert if you dont intend to trade them and have already made the decision you are going to covert them then I dont think it matters but sooner the better could be the way to go for captial gains tax reasons as I think once you convert your options it resets the clock so the 12 months on the newly aquired heads starts from the day you convert them, someone else my be able to confirm this..
