A little story which indicates the returns that options can provide:

A while ago I bought 4 million XCDOA options at 0.1 cents for 4 K. XCD were taken over by 88E and for a while I lost track of them as they weren't showing in my normal share platform (Commsec), but instead were in a share registry. I was pleasantly surprised to find they were now worth around 30 K, and even more so when 88E started to get hyped and worth 70 K, at which point I sold them. If the story ended there, it would have been a clear happy story. However 88E just went crazy such that the 4 K stake would have been worth an incredible 340 K at its peak, which was a bit frustrating to watch. Nonetheless still made a very good profit at the end of the day.
