It's a very long story even thou it was only this morning that I noticed I has 13 of yesterdays emails that I thought were sent were still in the outbox - they still are.
They were in my optus email address thru 'outlook'. When I accessed my optuswebmail most of my rec'd emails were in spam.
I can send emails out from the optuswebmail but all my info & email address's are in the outlook 'connection'

I visited the optus shop today to mention the email 'problem' & what is the cost of my phone connection to make or receive calls whilst in NZ for 2 weeks - the answer was $10 per day . such is life. No clarification about the email 'stuff'

So i arrived home & after more investigation the following cut/paste came up .....................& so I rang the technical support number & after 30 min on the phone (20 minutes waiting for the 1st responder to come back with some 'news' whilst I suspect talking to a 'technician' & finally I was told that there is a problem with optus & outlook re emails.

Check this out - with no warning to any optus members as far as I am aware !!!

    OptusNet daily send limit exceeded

Optus is updating the measures that help protect our customers from scammers including those who may seek to create fake OptusNet email addresses.

    These measures include:

    • Encouraging customers to set up their email service with "authenticated" email settings to ensure other domains recognise sent OptusNet emails as coming from a trusted source.
    • Introduction of a daily send limit of 500 emails per day for those who have "authenticated" email settings set up and 2 emails per day for those who do not.

    Are you using authenticated email?

If you're not sure whether you're using authenticated email settings, see the information on how to set up authenticated email below.

Customers using authenticated email settings who believe that they have a legitimate need to send more than 500 emails per day may contact us to discuss whether an exemption to this limit can be applied.

Important Note: A daily send limit of only 2 emails per day is applicable to those using unauthenticated email settings.

This change is covered by our Fair Go Policy and is designed to ensure appropriate and reasonable use of this product.

    Unauthenticated email users

The OptusNet daily send limit for unauthenticated email users is currently set to 2 outbound emails per day.

This daily send limit is designed to prevent an unauthenticated email user from sending emails to more than a certain number of recipients per day, resulting in less spam emanating from the OptusNet domain.

Important: The daily send limit of 2 emails per day only applies to customers who have not set up Authenticated Email to their email client settings (email app on their device / desktop).

Some customers may receive an error message advising that their outgoing email could not be sent as a result of the daily send limit. However, this does not occur in all cases, so you may not be aware until the intended recipient notifies you.

    I’ve received an error message

    Error message example:

"Your Optusnet email has exceeded the daily send limit of 2 emails. To avoid this limitation, you can set up authenticated SMTP in your email client using your email address and password or login to webmail.optusnet.com.au to send emails from there. For more information, jump onto the Optus website and search our Help & Support section for "Daily Send Limit". Learn more at https://www.optus.com.au/for-you/support/answer?id=20310".

If you've received the above error or been advised that your emails are not being received, you can resolve this by setting up Authenticated Email to your email client settings.

See, How do I set up Authenticated Email?

If this doesn't help, see, Can't send or receive email: OptusNet troubleshooting.

    Why is authentication important?

Email authentication is a process which allows email servers to confirm the legitimacy of an email's sender and its content. It may also be referred to as email validation.

How do I set up Authenticated Email?

For steps on setting up Authenticated Email to be able to send / receive OptusNet emails, refer to the relevant email client (i.e. email application) below:
