But if someone comes along with another battery technology that is not Li based and is drop in to the same port, surely Li batteries will go by the way side. Case in point is the recent substitution by the Chinese of a lower quality compound to replace Ni in stainless steel. This was driven by price; at a certain point, the mkt is/was apparently ready to accept lower quality stainless steel....the same could happen to Li. No doubt if a better redox couple comes along, such as a new development in vanadium, we will hear about it early enough to have some eggs in that basket too.
