    Hmm. Good question. (Even without the Vaseline.)

    I was talking today to an algo bot programmer. Not specifically about this issue.

    But our discussion did pertain to this.

    Basically the conversation revealed that the bots are best in ranging markets. And they make lots of small profits from small market jitters.

    With new advances in Artificial Intelligence, they may be developing programs which effectively take advantage of current situations. Where huge moves occur from sideways trends.

    I suspect that there are already arcane practitioners in some of the largest investment banks taking steps to benefit from the current situation.

    I might add that the person I spoke to works in one of the world's largest investment banks.

    So - even for them, this is a learning situation. Or - perhaps - more pertinently - they're attempting to program their bots using AI to recognise hugely profitable situations before you and I can blink an eye.

    Take-away from the discussion. They aren't God ............... yet.

    In the meantime - I'll just follow the trend.
