SMH reporting small retailer Enova Energy has complained to ACCC highlighting electricity generators have not been turning on their plants during price spikes.....
I did some research on Enova and it looks like ~50% of their electricity supply is procured through solar feed in...and from the sound of the CEOs desparate letter to the ACCC it "looks" like the other 50% is exposed at Spot prices...particularly when the sun goes down.
It will be interesting to understand the true position as well as the positions of other small retailers.
June monthly avg prices are at $500/MWH for NSW and QLD so this will likely hurt these small retailers to an extent.
