The 'gap' is the point on a open/High/Low/Close chart from the highest of the previous bar to the lowest of the current bar. Vice versa for down days.
So technically, the gap isn't closed. I read somewhere that 90% or so of gaps eventually close, 70% which close within 5 days.
The gap is most often viewed on daily bar charts.
