It's curious that it is apparently legal to agree to remain silent about sexual assault in exchange for money. I guess rich Americans can beat people up and pay them to keep quiet as well.
I guess the US 'jusice' system relies on a complainant willing to lay charges, unlike here. Following an assault with a bribe not to cooperate with the cops should attract an extra charge of conspiring to pervert the course of justice.
