All points are valid, I accept that, but STO are starting to look like the poor cousin up against WPL, and they will need to do something brave to give them new life.
My gut feeling is that WPL wont buy again...in fact their line might well have already been sold to STO in the last few days, hence the price move. But STO are harly likely to sit on 6.8% of OSH, especially when they lost out on the race for Oregin to OSH. I dont think STO were mucking around...they wanted Oregin.
Dont forget also that the Australian federal govt would like to get something out of PNG after so many years of pouring money into the place. They would like to see the pipeline happen; they just have to convince the PNG govt to go with someone like STO, who annoyed them ealier this year....hence Howard's visit to PNG, I suspect.
