Horrible cancer and the poor survival rate due to no early diagnosis is a large part of that. It responds poorly to current first line treatments with a very large proportion not responding. I think 15% responded in a article I had read but not sure what stage the cancer was at in that article.
Cheap blood tests would make a huge difference as a national health program but not easy to target as I know a mix of friends of family who know someone who has , has had or has passed away from panc cancer and there has been nothing obvious ( except with hindsight knowledge ) in regards to early symptoms no hereditary and quite a range in ages from 40 up.
How do you target it or just do like bowel and target all people above a certain age as early detection is always cheaper for the community than any later stage treatment?
Unfortunately there is no shortage of people afflicted and I think there will be a place for OSL in earlier stage treatments later on but it will take more $ , time and trials over many years so the larger later stage is the obvious place for now.
