Everyone here knows how important it is for pharma industry to not just have valid patent but have long expiry.... Those who don't know can google and there will be plenty of material to read on it. Those who understand why long life patent is important knows why patents important for any pharma company not just the one who trying to sell themselves or the one who just started in the industry or the one who already making lot's of money ... in my opinion.

recent OSL annual report which is the place my other biotech company disclose their patent status and all i found in OSL is note 22 talking about patent & liabilities and it isn't clearly providing patent number neither it is providing how many patent still company has, how many expired (if any), what is the longevity of existing patents.

While looking at Otto's holding to date through ASX notices ... i stumbled on below announcement regarding Japan Patent issued on 13 May 2013 (https://newswire.iguana2.com/af5f4d73c1a54a33/osl.asx/XX635251/OSL_Japanese_patent_granted) which give indications of extension until Feb 2022 and so it is the right time for shareholder to ask what is the current status of patent in various territory instead of trying to read through online resources as patent reading, understanding & interpreting is complex and not easy so best to send company an email and get an answer in writing in my opinion. Google answer may not be reliable as i learned in another company so best is to get answer from company... in my opinion.




As a shareholder people could ask following question as that should be in public domain and company would be happy to help you all with that and it would good if anyone can share here so we all know how long is the expiry of the "core patent". remember to ask word "CORE PATENT" not just patent.

1. What is the core patent number that OSL depends upon it's technology
2. What is the status of patent in each territory particularly US, EU, AU & NZ ?
3. What is the current expiry date of patent for US, EU, AU & NZ ?
4. what is the patent type ? (Utility or Design or Plant)


This is not to scare anyone here but it is more about empowering retail holders to ask right questions and then make decision based on their risk management practice in my opinion... ! I am also learning here as well so feel free to correct me... thanks !
