This would mean these brokers need to acquire these shares from the asx hence the slow burn regarding the otc volume. Ultimately investors in the U.S will want more access but also more liquidity, imagine asking a broker for a sizeable position then not being able to move out of it due to lack of liquidity. In the future there will be a balancing act of shares held in Australia vs U.S., this of course would mean a smaller pool of shares in Aus and the consequent effects of supply and demand. It's my understanding the company would prefer the otc price and the asx price tracks similarly.
