For those who are asking about what happened in the closing moments of today, it was so bizarre, I took a few screenshots:
The price had been sitting above $4.96 for a few hours, then began to plumment suddenly in the last 30 minutes, so I glanced across to the orders and noticed this significant dumping of over 2 million shares at only $4.35, with the buy orders for $5.26 landing at the same time, ensuring that nobody else could pick them up at the cheaper prices, unless they were quick to outbid them:
And the nett effect was;
According to the list of commsec codes, XT means :
A cross trade that occurs when a broker executes an order to buy and sell the same security at the same time, in which both the buyer and seller are clients of the broker.
And SX = a Special Portfolio Crossing, whatever that means.
But either way, it happened several hours after BP announced they were upgrading their price target for CHN to $6.35 (at 3:10 in this announcement... the link didn't work properly in my last post above, doh! So here it is, trying again):
