Its normal on success to put together a field development plan which purpose is to take the discovery to production. The development plan may require a number of wells to help determine reservoir structures as well as providing additional production.
Where it gets harder going forward is when the permit acreage is so large (as in Blocks 105 and 120)that there are several unrelated targets. ie even after a commercial discovery there are still many more exploration targets that both a production and exploration programme could be maintained in tandem.
Kris Energy has given us a glimpse of the future, at least according to them, in that there is likely to be 4 more wells drilled in 2014 partly to appraise any discovery from this year and some exploration content.
