If the Europeans and those with land connections decide that they wish to be the top dogs then nothing the US can do,bar nuclear bombs,can stop them.They are sophisticated,dwarf the US economy,have no debt,total 450 million plus,and have more need for oil than the US.They have shown a willingness to supply terrorists through governments in the region so it is just a small step to back a government directly.They appear to be willing to do what the US has done over many decades.
