the golden goose of capitalism ...... take a look at the US where morality takes second (or third) place to the almighty $ and ask yourself is that really what we want for Oz ?? I almost hate to admit it but at times we've had fairly reasonable (not at present unfortunately ) coalition govts folowed by moderate Labor govts bringing change and the balance of the 2 has worked well for this country . (IMO)
So we have a socialist country that is also capitalist . It's all about getting the balance right , which IS hard . You don't want to destroy incentive or encourage bludgers but you want to help the disadvantaged get medical care and eat . A degree of socialism is the mark of a covilised country . Too much will destory a country . Contrary to what many tend to push here the labor party is very centrist . If they were further left they would never get elected . If the libs tried to take away current priveleges they'd never get elected ! All IMO !
