I can see your point so if Christ was born on the 25 of Dec that was the beginning of the AD era.

But it was a long time before Christianity adopted the calender we know and since all the people who knew it was a fudged calendar had died the Church didn't fear any legal action or being fed to the lions by the Romans for false representation!
