The Palestinian population increase is not surprising since 90% are unemployed and have nothing better to do than make babies.
They are unemployed because there are no jobs or economy in the normal sense of the word and the UN supports their needs through donor countries.
It's a similar situation to the welfare dependent dysfunctional aboriginal communities here.
The outside world created the Palestinian situation just as Australian governments have created Aboriginal welfare dependancy.
So don't blame the people dili place the blame where it belongs on those who created this situation.
Same with asylum seekers. Most are coming from war torn countries where we western countries are either directly or indirectly involved in the hostilities. The first boat people refugees were from Vietnam a war almost entirely of our making as is Iraq and Afghanistan. The Sri Lankan Tamils are an exception to that as they are fleeing a lost civil war, but I bet they got the idea of coming here from seeing what the others had done.
So if we are serious about tackling these problems the West and/or Australia needs to start changing its own behaviour which has created or inflamed so many of these things.
