I agree, nice to hear someone saying it.
If you have a small stake it seems like it’s madness to sell some of your shares below value, but if you’re all in on one company (e.g. JP) borrowing money against your holding to pay tax is risk that is not worth it. It’s leverage you are not interested in. This specific scenario would have burned because NRW directors never sell shares and their track record of sticking to strict periods of full market info is really good in the period I’ve watched the company closely.
If NRW grows, JP will be very wealthy. Full stop. Sometimes selling a portion below value is sensible in that context. The big picture is that the share price eventually reflects the value broadly. He already dialled up his exposure after Samsung by taking equity over salary.
How much skin in NRW do people want him to have?!
