gyro - I've driven through some of the burnt suburbs. They are near heavily trees areas. The grass fires didn't do much damage.
I agree with Fallguy. No need to have forests next to housing. Also, in the ACT it's a long winded and expensive business to remove problem trees on your property. I noticed in one street in Kambah today had chopped down all their gum trees. I don't think they'll be having any problems from the local authorities.
