As I understand Caberra has natural bush thru the various suburbs leading into the city I am led to believe that this latest fire nearly reached Lake Burley Griffin . This could never happen in Melbourne although we have more parks and gardens than the other cities . Our outlying areas Warrandyte all thru the Dandenogs are like a time bomb waiting to burst because of the Bloody Greenies and councils not allowing trees near the homes to be cut down or cleared . ( my idea is to do this and then replant Evergreens ) Some of our seaside resorts are the same and they will not even alow access roads to let the trucks into the scrub Regards Towie I am not a Slash and Burn person but good management prior to Summer is a MUST Towie
