If I was Mr China and I wanted to get folks off my back about the value of the Yuan the logical thing to do would be manufacture a deficit.

IMO there's plenty of smoke and mirrors with all this sorts of data (like US unemployment etc). Hard to know what's really going on ... Guess the call way back was that things would be volatile, so we shouldn't be too surprised.
