By my calculation NGE's holding of its biggest investment (in listed MDL)is:
At 31/12/2017 numbers 35% of NGE's Net Asset Value (NAV) of $0.63 by 37.4M shares was in MDL shares ie a holding in MDL worth $7.65M.
MDL close price at at 31Dec2017 was $1.04.
So NGE held 7.36M shares in MDL.
No it seems that NGE has not sold any (though that is possible), so assuming no sales of MDL the following follows.
At 30 April, MDL shares were worth $1.475 (ie $10.85M total or 29.0c per NGE share). (for ref NGE NAV at 30/04/18 was 74.7c).
MDL is subject of a takeover offer by ERAMET (per NGE announcement to the ASX on 27 April) of $1.46 (compared to prebid price around $1.09) - hence uplift in NGE NAV of 7.7c on 27April (actually confirming that NGE has not sold any MDL shares).
Since 30 April, MDL has risen further above bid to $1.625 (as I write). This is a further uplift in NGE holding of (being 15c per MDL share held) of $1.1M which is and extra 3c per NGE share!
Talk on MDL threads is that the ERAMET offer is too low (shareholders always say that of course!) and that perhaps $2 is going to be needed. For reference $2.00 for MDL would represent for NGE an extra $3.86M over 30April valuation, being an extra 10.3c per NGE share.
Looking very good for NGE and NGE has past tax losses to ensure that no company tax would be paid on the gain!
