the Cuadrilla well is on the site of a previously drilled conventional well (vertical only) that was never put to production. From memory there is definitely oil there. The difference this time will be that the well will be drilled horizontally and stimulated with acid. Very much sounds like a winner to me but we will have to wait and see.

Great to see that the additional approval required to drill this well was issued in a relatively short space of time. When combined with the recently announced changes to the planning regime in the UK, it would appear that the Govt is backing up their policies with action on the ground which is a huge positive for all companies operating in unconventional in the UK.

UK Shale is looking better by the day.
