Putting a decline into Havieron has proved a challenge I have followed over the years adding my two cents worth from time to time.
One post of mine I found refers to shaft sinking through a high pressure formation in Saskatchewan, Canada. Report is dated 1964 and refers to some 200 European examples going back to the 1880s.
This methodology would almost certainly have been an option that has been considered by the engineers for the Havieron decline acquifer. The major difference with the above being decline vs shaft. As you say Onceover it would be interesting to be a fly on the wall, or more.
I believe I put a post out about the two vertical shafts that are also part of the mine plan. I assume the dewatering/depressuring from the decline are expected to aid these when the time comes to put them in.
Ramping up production beyond the limits of the current decline mean further openings through the acquifer!
Maybe a large shaft?
Benefits of a decline vs shaft? Onceover or someone??
Many examples of mine flooding exist. I happened across this one which bears some similarities to an unconstrained acquifer above a mine..
Some mines/tunnels go under the ocean so no one wants a leak..... in the Chunnel etc.
Fascinating process. The deposit is definitely worth the effort.
