There's little logic in this but a kind of sense. Trump was voted in as a revolt against the pendulum going too far one way.
Then a lot of nasties crawled out from under their rocks and it appeared a bunch of idiots (some with badges and uniforms) thought the election meant he was a leader for white men, showing the dominance of white men. One cold blooded murder by a white cop seemed to confirm that in the eyes of many. The pendulum had swung too far, too quickly. Now some want to erase many of the fictional cultural narratives of the past used to create a fake history - happy slaves and generous slave owners etc. To them it makes sense.
All it means is the pendulum is now shifting the other way. That's the way these things play out - almost like the tides going in and out.
