Morrison's record is mixed. He followed unanimous medical advice and put in the travel ban eventually, and has given regular updates. That's good. So the "getting in front of a camera and announcing stuff" bit of the job is going ok.

He's still struggling with the "governing" bit of government though. That is, going back to the office after announcing something and managing its implementation.

The states aren't getting flight records for virus affected passengers, and have been trying to set up a crisis meeting of state and federal health ministers for over a month, so they can co-ordinate the response. GPs aren't getting federal updates and advice. The reshuffle of ministries before Christmas continues to cause chaos, as public servants don't know which minister is responsible for what. The pots of money that the PM announces are "notional" apparently. His announced bushfire funding hasn't been getting to victims and may not exist, and coronavirus money has also not been handed out. The rollout of the federal stash of emergency medical supplies may not be happening or able to happen.

The great news is that the PM is not as catastrophically incompetent with the coronavirus as he was with the bushfires.

    So far.
