The vast majority of the country, geographically, is NOT absorbed by RE as you seem to be. The house I built 22 yrs ago may have had 50% cap gain, barely above inflation. Repairs to that timber home would eat up much of any gains.
Australia is one of the most fortunate countries, we SHOULD have bags of cheap power, we SHOULD have gas pipelines crisscrossing the country, we DO have the best, hardest working miners selling mountains of iron and coal to our near neighbours. But you are unhappy so the nation must concentrate on keeping the young in Syd and Mlb happy while they eat their smashed avocados sipping long blacks.
