Companies should be run ethically and equitably not actively over rewarding a few and under rewarding the many. The case for investment is purely based on what the return on that investment would be and Companies only expand if they believe their will be an increase in revenue to justify the expenditure.
Bad and largely inept management is the main issue here IMO.
