I believe we ARE pockets of consciousness - energy and information fields that are alive as thought within a field of consciousness.
Consciousness is always changing - the fields are dynamic.
We, me or I are the human ego expression of these pockets of consciousness in motion (thought). Inflated egos often cause many problems.
