EASTLAND REDUCES NEEDLE PRODUCTION COST BY 50% WITH THE MOVE TO
COMMISSION THE "PROGRESSIVE ANGULAR PRESENTATION" (P A P) TECHNOLOGY
Eastland Medical Systems Ltd in conjunction with Portland Surgical
Products has now concluded the commissioning of the production of its
patented P A P needle technology.
Mr Phil Bunce, Managing Director of Portland Surgical Products will
project manage the construction of the first machine with Mr Ian
White in charge of all technical design. Melbourne based company,
ANCA Asia Pty Ltd will contract the tooling and assembly of the
project.
Mr White is a highly qualified designer who graduated from Glasgow
School of Art taking a degree in Industrial Design. Mr White has
previously concluded projects for companies such as Philips, GMH,
Ford Australia and is security cleared to work on defence projects.
ANCA Asia Pty Ltd is a specialist precision grinding manufacturer who
builds grinding machines in Melbourne for local and export markets.
ANCA Asia Pty Ltd will work closely with the Project Manager in
bringing this new technology into production within the time frame.
The commissioning of the "Progressive Angular Presentation" P A P,
technology should see trial production within 4 months and full
production within 6 months. P A P technology will take Eastland to
the forefront of needle grinding in the world having a cycle capacity
4 times that of conventional grinding technology.
It has been calculated that in using the P A P technology in
preference to conventional methods presently available that as few as
6 P A P machines will have the capacity to grind and sharpen the
total world production of needles.
The grinding and sharpening of needles is a most complex and costly
procedure in the production of needles. Within the P A P technology,
not only is the speed of production increased by four fold but the
tolerances achievable is far more accurate with costs saving around
50% of those presently used methods.
The patents owned by Eastland Medical Systems - including its unique
Clip-On syringe converter for the prevention of needlestick injuries
- have been acquired and developed to respond to the international
demands of the health industry.
