Sorry, I should have said the fed dropped the funds rate, not the interest rate. Fed drops the funds rate, making funds cheaper for banks. Banks reduce the lending interest rates which raises consumption (in theory!), stimulating DEMAND for money and reducing the SUPPLY, assuming the federal reserve stays the same. This makes the dollar stronger.
