AFR Chanticleer 16.6.23 said"The [AI] opportunities are big.Boston Consulting Group’s local tech guru, Patrick Forth, says the firm’s analysis of several ASX 100 companies suggests some will be able to increase earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation by more than $100 million by extracting benefits in four key areas: using analytics to optimise operations; personalisation; automation; and predictive operations and maintenance.
Using AI to optimise a project or function can slash costs by between 15 and 30 per cent, while personalisation of promotions and offers can increase revenue by up to 10 per cent...
Andersen [TLS Snr Executive] says generative AI will help improve these functions, but more importantly it will usher in a change in focus from using AI to drive efficiency to using AI to become more predictive, proactive and precise.
In Telstra’s fixed internet business, for example, telemetry is already being deployed to identify network problems an end user might be having and switch to back-up systems before the customer notices.
But Andersen says the ability to simulate an entire value chain using generative AI means Telstra should be able to more precisely predict customer needs and invest accordingly.
“What is the expectation that customers have? How can I optimise for that? Can I communicate more proactively? Can I start investing, not only where we believe there is a need for investment, but where the customer sees a need?”
The combination of generative AI and the big data sets owned by the likes of Telstra and Quantium could allow Telstra to generate better quality and more personalised content and offers for customers.
But Andersen stresses Telstra’s AI deployment plans run much deeper than this; his plan is to put data scientists in every one of his teams to properly embed the technology throughout the organisation. “We have the ambition in T25 (growth strategy) that all our core key processes inside Telstra are enabled by AI. It will redefine how we do business”.

This article's main analysis is how AI can benefit large Aust. companies, to make them more profitable- & it focuses mainly on TLS.
I assume, therefore, that TLS may be able to maximise its profits probably more than other large Aust. cos., in implementing AI strategies.
