Avalon Rare Metals Inc - no plant, not producing, not in the race


Rare Element Resources Ltd - no plant, not producing, currently exloring, not in the race


Quest Rare Minerals Ltd - no plant, not producing, exploring and identifying rare earth resources, not in the race


Market Vectors Rare Earth/Strategic Metals ETF - just an ETF, no plant, not producing, not exploring, not in the race


Molycorp Inc - being investigated by US Secuties and Exchange Commission, plant, producer, needing to raise money in order to remain solvent, problematic if it will raise the money easily


Lynas - huge rare earth mineral deposits, state of the art plant, on the verge of producing, customers, definitely in the game


So from all of the above it can be seen that there really are only 2 players, with one of them in serious financial bother
