I made this point to Pwinne awhile back, but in short there is no 'media pressure' to drive prices down or get owners to sell up. On the contrary, nobody has done more to keep this bubble alive than the media. The fact is that we (I work in the print media) have rightly been taken to task (for running dodgy spruiks paid for by our RE advertisers) and told to get back to reporting the news. The news is that home prices peaked in April 2010. The news is that after flatterening out prices are now falling and the declines are accelerating. These are facts. Anything else is opinion.
