    The cause of climate change is the global generation of CO2
    & other climate changing gases which in effect lead to global
    warming.......not population increase per se.

    We have had polulation increase since Adam but its
    only lifestyles since the Industrial Revolution that has
    increased climate changing gases to accumulate in
    the upper atmosphere.

    Some posters cite the high birthrate in 3rd world countries
    as if it is the cause of climate change but that's not so;
    its advanced industrial countries that is the cause; not
    the 3rd world.

    Later on if food demand exceeds supply, then there may be a logical
    arguement to cut back on population growth but at present there
    is no case for that.

    In the interim, the challenge for he 1st World is to cut down
    emissions to a level of the 3rd World/Capita

    So, in summary, many of he above posts are hanging the
    tail on the wrong donkey!

    To be fair, all countries in double digits ( incl Aus) should be required to
    reduce CO2/Capita to single digits and then lets take it from there:
