    I did not mean franchises will decline. If I gave that implicit notion, forgive me. What I meant was that the current model of franchising, and the relationships therein, will change. The consumer is changing and we must change with them, or rather, ahead of them, in the way Subaru knew we needed a segment like the Forester before we did. Indeed, the business model has to change because - based on the American mother - it does not account for an Australia demographic condition and social, cultural and technology imperatives. Concentration of population is also a very major determinant to success. Also, more control must be given to the franchisee while retaining the integrity of the brand. This has implications for the franchisee applicants, some of whom re barely up to the task.

    In short, economies of scale will give a millenial based brand huge advantage over mature businesses in decline, like KFC and MacDonald's, imo.
