If you look at the operating cash flow and allowance for PPE reinvestment back into the business the dividend was never sustainable at those levels or anywhere near it. Also the sensible approach with the net cash flow would have been the opposite approach of reducing the debt or alternatively building cash reserves in order to withstand a future contraction in the economy.
