We had a friend who bought expensive birthday presents each year for her NEPHEW...
It finally resulted in a $20000 car for his 17th birthday (she took out a loan). They weren't well off by any stretch of the imagination and his own parents never spent THAT MUCH on their own child (didn't even help out with the car.)
We parted ways so would love to have known what she got him for his 18th....
