Base metal prices posted strong gains on the London Metal Exchange on Thursday as investors cheered the better than expected economic growth data (The Euro zone posted better than expected GDP in the June quarter. Euro zone GDP contracted by only 0.1pct against expectations of a contraction of 0.5pct in the June quarter). Copper rose to a 10-month high up 3.1pct while Lead gained 5.0pct. And the price of gold rose in line with the oil price and softer US dollar.
The Nymex oil contract rose by US36c or 0.5pct to US$70.52 a barrel. London Brent crude rose by US59c to US$73.48 a barrel.
Uptrend will continue
