My son in law, Civil Engineering graduate From University of Technology in Sydney started his first job fresh out of uni on 70k just a bit over a year ago and recently received 10% pay rise. He also gets paid overtime or can take time in lieu, if he is required to work more than 35hours week.
He works for a private firm of architects on the north side in Sydney.
I must say he was lucky, his friend and a fellow student started on 65k and is expected to put in huge amount of extra hours for no extra pay. He will be leaving soon.
